Gilbert Construction Company has a rich history that began in 1975, when R. Austin Gilbert Jr. and his wife, Beth, founded the business with a focus on providing high-quality construction services to the local community. The company quickly earned a strong reputation for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

In 1976, Jerry Fields joined the company and became head of the Gilbert & Fields division of Gilbert Construction, specializing in metal buildings. Under his leadership, the division grew rapidly, and in 1991, Jerry established his own company, Fields Construction. After years of success, Austin and Jerry decided to merge their companies in 2012, forming Gilbert & Fields Construction. This merger combined their expertise and resources, enabling them to serve their clients more effectively while continuing to support the local community.

In 2019, after decades of leadership, Jerry Fields retired, and the business was officially renamed Gilbert Construction Company to reflect Austin’s continued vision. He recognized the potential of key individuals within the company, naming Storm Page, Mary Jane Johnson, John Parker, and Jeff Fields as active partners, empowering them to carry forward the company’s legacy.

As Gilbert Construction celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, it remains a cornerstone of the Pee Dee area, thriving on community involvement, quality, and strong relationships. With the focus on the future, the company is committed to strengthening existing relationships while developing new partnerships, ensuring that its commitment to excellence endures for years to come.
